About Troop 55
Troop 55 is a Scouting USA troop in Cedar Falls, Iowa. We have a boys and a girls troop. We meet at Orchard Hill Church every Monday at 6:45 p.m. during the School Year. We belong to the River Valley District and the Winnebago Council. Troop 55 currently has 30 + active scouts and is lucky to have very active leadership. We believe in the BSA Scout principles and are truely scout lead.

Troop 55 means CAMPING! We camp all year, even in the winter. We try and have one High Adventure every year. January, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2018 and 2021, 2022 and 2023 we were at Okpik in Minnesota. March 2008,and March 2012, March 2015, March 2023 we were at Sea Base in Florida. We had 24 people go to SeaBase in 2023. August 2008, and 2013 we canoed over 50 miles in the Flambeau River in Wisconsin. In 2009, 2011, 2014, 2016, 2021 and 2022 we were at Philmont in New Mexico. We will be back there in June 2024 and June 2025.

We are fortunate enough to have adults who are very active and committed to Troop 55. About 1/2 of our adults are Woodbadge trained. We are proud to have leaders on staff for Woodbage. We often will have nearly one adult to every scout at the camp outs. Our scouts have a campout nearly every month packed with lots of fun and activities. Summer Scout camp is a very important part of our Troop and is well attended by Scouts and adults.
We have adult leaders who have helped teach Wilderness First Aid and Outdoor Leadership Skills. We believe service is an important part of scouting and do many projects for the community. Our goal is to do several Troop Service Projects throughout the year. We were recognized with the Governors Volunteer Award for 10 years of Community Service.
