| About Troop 55 |
|
Troop 55 is a boy scout troop in Cedar Falls, Iowa. We meet at Cedar Heights
Elementary School every Monday at 7 p.m. during the School Year. We belong to the
Wabuha District and the Winnebago Council. Troop 55 currently has 30 active scouts and is
lucky to have very active leadership. We believe in the Boy Scout principles and are truely scout lead.
Troop 55 means CAMPING! We camp all year, even in the winter. We try and have one High Adventure every year. January, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011 we were at Okpik in Minnesota. March 2008, we were at Sea Base in Florida and will be back in March, 2012. August 2008, we canoed over 50 miles in the Flambeau River in Wisconsin. In July, 2009, and July 2011 we were at Philmont in New Mexico. We are fortunate enough to have adults who are very active and committed to Troop 55. Almost 1/2 of our adults are Woodbadge trained. We often will have nearly one adult to every scout at the camp outs. Our scouts have a campout nearly every month packed with lots of fun and activities. Summer Scout camp is a very important part of our Troop and is well attended by Scouts and adults. We believe service is an important part of scouting and do many projects for the community. Our goal is to do several Troop Service Projects throughout the year. We were recognized with the Governors Volunteer Award for 10 years of Community Service. |
